Valtech Ukraine earns Veteran Friendly Award from Veteran Hub
八月 09, 2024
Valtech Ukraine is honored to announce its recognition with the Veteran Friendly Award from the Practika project, an initiative led by Veteran Hub. This accolade highlights companies that actively foster a supportive workplace culture for veterans of all genders in Ukraine, facilitating their transition to civilian life and new career paths.
As Ukraine witnesses a new generation of veterans re-entering the workforce, businesses are increasingly integrating these skilled individuals into their teams. Valtech Ukraine is a proud example, having expanded from two veteran consultants to ten by the time of the award presentation. During the company’s early collaboration with Veteran Hub, five consultants served in the Armed Forces or other defense roles, reflecting the growing presence of veterans within the organization.
The Practika project forms part of the Veterans Reintegration Program, managed by IREX and Veteran Hub with support from the U.S. Department of State. It is essential to note that Veteran Hub is solely responsible for the project's content, which does not necessarily reflect the views of the U.S. Department of State or IREX.
To be honored with the Veteran Friendly Award, Valtech Ukraine underwent a rigorous assessment using the Mystery Customer method, demonstrating its commitment to the four key attributes of a veteran-friendly company:
-
Active hiring of veterans: Valtech Ukraine promotes its veteran-friendly culture and openness to hiring veterans across its platforms and job postings.
-
Respect for veterans’ experience: The company engages veterans in developing adaptation programs and maintains communication with the families of military personnel.
-
Workplace adaptation: Valtech Ukraine provides additional workplace accommodations for veterans, such as specialized chairs and equipment for working during power outages.
-
Support of Ukrainian employees: The company upholds a position of supporting it’s Ukrainian teams, identifying and addressing the needs of mobilized personnel through targeted support efforts.
In collaboration with the Practika project, Valtech Ukraine has introduced several significant initiatives:
The company updated its job listings to explicitly state its openness to hiring veterans and internally displaced persons, signaling its commitment to inclusivity. A support network was established to connect colleagues’ families, led by a dedicated team member responsible for veteran-related initiatives. Valtech Ukraine also maintains ongoing communication with in-service counselors through regular event digests, ensuring that the needs of veteran colleagues are continuously met. To support veterans working from home, the company provides resources to help them create a comfortable home workspace. Additionally, Valtech Ukraine has expanded its benefits package to include legal and psychological counseling, recognizing the unique challenges veterans may face.
Looking ahead, Valtech Ukraine is committed to further enhancing its support. The company plans to expand inclusive spaces, depending on office capabilities, and to broaden health insurance coverage for veterans. Valtech Ukraine also aims to collaborate more closely with the catalog of roles in the Armed Forces to better understand veterans' experiences and ensure that their skills are effectively aligned with civilian roles. Additionally, the company is preparing information activities for the talent acquisition team to raise awareness about volunteering opportunities within Valtech.
Valtech Ukraine’s commitment to assisting veterans in facilitating their transition to civilian life and new career paths is part of a long-term strategy that involves all departments in creating a supportive environment for everyone. This dedication aligns with Valtech’s global commitment to diversity and inclusion, which is integrated into every aspect of the company’s operations. As one unified Valtech team, we collaborate on local initiatives like the Veteran-Friendly project, offering training, development and mutual support as we navigate this challenging journey together.
