Valtech Appoints Global Head Of Media
maj 04, 2015
Patrik Molander joins Valtech’s global leadership team following the 2014 acquisition of Neon Stingray, the Sydney-headquartered Video on Demand (VoD) and connected devices startup he co-founded in 2010.
Formerly chief technology officer of Neon Stingray, Molander has over 18 years experience and has held several senior technical positions with leading broadcasters. He has created groundbreaking VoD and TV Everywhere solutions for brands such as Foxtel and Telstra in Australia, and Com Hem, Teracom and SF Anytime in Europe.
Molander’s Valtech appointment will see him lead the development of smart applications with innovative interfaces. As well as creating engaging VoD experiences for customers that enable fans to watch their favourite shows on an ever increasing array of platforms and devices.
Valtech’s general manager of Australia and New Zealand Chris Flintoft said that the appointment of Molander was a testament to the power of Australian-developed innovation in global markets, and came at a critical time for the Australian market.
“Patrik has been at the forefront of the rapidly emerging Video on Demand market and take-up by consumers worldwide. With the surge of streaming providers now launching in the Australian market, including the arrival of Netflix, it is an apt time for Patrik to be taking up the position of Global Head of Media,” Flintoft said.
“As we complete our integration into Valtech, we look forward to building on our knowledge and expertise with further international exposure, and continuing to bring Australian innovation to the world.”
Molander added: “I’m looking forward to the next big adventure of my career in this global role at Valtech, in particularly helping progressive media companies undertake the successful digital transformation required to give their viewers the ground breaking viewing experiences they demand.
“One of the first goals is to align the media strategy across all Valtech territories, which are all seeing different stages of growth – such as the current spike in innovation and the streaming conversation in Australia. This is a huge opportunity for Valtech to become the world leader in Video on Demand experiences for global entertainment brands seeking to work with local experts in each country they operate,” he said.
Mr. Molander will be primarily based in Valtech’s Stokholm offices but will regularly travel to Australia and global territories in which Valtech operates.
