About the Role
Reporting to Valtech’s Bid Management Lead, the Senior Bid Manager will be responsible for leading the end-to-end bid process, from opportunity identification and qualification through to contract award. You will develop and implement winning bid strategies, manage cross-functional bid teams, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and compelling bid submissions. You will have a proven track record of winning significant public sector contracts and a deep understanding of the UK public sector procurement landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Bid Strategy & Management:
- Develop and implement winning bid strategies that align with our business objectives and client requirements.
- Continually review and improve our bid processes
- Lead the bid qualification process, assessing opportunities and contributing to informed bid/no-bid decisions.
- Manage the end-to-end bid lifecycle, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of all bid deliverables.
- Manage bid budgets and resources.
- Identify and mitigate bid risks.
- Take responsibility for timely, complete bid submissions.
Bid Team Responsibilities:
- Engaging specialists across the business to form cross-functional bid teams
- Lead and motivate bid teams, including sales, technical, delivery and commercial stakeholders.
- Assign roles and responsibilities, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
- Facilitate bid kick-off meetings, progress reviews, and lessons learned sessions.
- Mentor and coach junior bid team members.
Bid Writing & Content Development:
- Oversee the development of high-quality, compliant, and persuasive bid content.
- Ensure bid responses are tailored to specific client needs and evaluation criteria.
- Review, edit and approve all bid submissions, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Work with subject matter experts to create compelling content, rewriting and editing as needed.
Stakeholder Management:
- High quality communication with key procurement stakeholders and internal subject matter experts.
- Manage post-submission activities, including feedback analysis and debriefings.
- Manage relationships with partner organisations for joint bids.
Market Intelligence & Compliance:
- Maintain a deep understanding of the UK public sector procurement landscape, including frameworks, regulations, and best practices.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform bid strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement regulations and standards.
- Maintain an understanding of government digital strategies.
Essential Experience
- Significant experience in bid management, with a proven track record of winning major public sector digital contracts.
- Strong understanding of government digital standards, approaches and culture.
- Deep understanding of UK public sector procurement processes and frameworks.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
